Islamic Research Network
Islamic Research Network (IRN) is a data-driven platform documenting Muslim institutions, demographics, and community development across the Western world. It helps Muslims, researchers, and community leaders see where our institutions are, what they offer, and how communities are changing over time.
What IRN is building
IRN brings together verified data on masjids, Islamic centres, educational institutions, community programs, and research. The goal is a single, trusted hub where people can discover organizations, and organizations can be more visible to the communities they serve.
Mapping Muslim institutions
IRN is building an interactive directory of masjids, Islamic centres, schools, charities, student groups, and community services—organized by country, province or state, and city.
Serving communities & researchers
Community members use IRN to find local services and learning opportunities. Researchers and scholars use the data to study Muslim demographics and community development in a more accurate, grounded way.
Verified, up-to-date information
Organizations can claim their listings, update their details, and highlight programs. This keeps IRN current and helps ensure that people are seeing information that is as accurate and trustworthy as possible.
Outreach & Partnerships
Islamic Research Network (IRN) is built on collaboration. Our goal is to make it easier for Muslims, researchers, and community leaders to find trustworthy organizations and services across the Western world.
Building IRN through collaboration
To keep IRN accurate, useful, and grounded in real community needs, we work with partners at every level: national councils, academic institutions, local masjids, and media and policy organizations.
National Councils & Umbrella Organizations
We connect with national bodies such as the Canadian Council of Imams, MAC, ICNA, MCB, ISNA, and similar organizations to:
- Map member institutions more accurately
- Keep organizational information up to date
- Help Muslims find reliable councils and networks in their region
Academic Partners
IRN collaborates with universities and research centres with Islamic studies, sociology, religious studies, or social policy programs to:
- Support research on Muslim communities in the Western world
- Provide verified institutional data for academic projects
- Turn research insights into practical benefit for communities
Local Mosques & Community Organizations
Local masjids, Islamic centres, and community organizations are at the heart of IRN. We encourage them to:
- Claim their listings on IRN
- Update services, prayer times, and contact details
- Highlight programs for youth, families, converts, and the wider community
Media & Policy Partners
IRN positions itself as a factual, data-driven voice on Muslim institutions and demographics by working with:
- Media outlets
- Think tanks and policy groups
- Community advocacy organizations
By sharing accurate, context-rich data, IRN helps shape more informed reporting, policy discussions, and public conversations about Muslim communities.
